  AMETHYST™     Amethyst Coralberry

Amethyst coralberry is a remarkable new plant with vivid  pink berries that brighten up the garden in late summer and autumn. The effect is stunning to say the least! This new development comes to us from Germany where it has performed and sold extremely well.

Use Amethyst coralberry in mass plantings or hedges for the best color effect. It's an easy growing plant that is well adapted to even the most difficult growing conditions. Symphoricarpus x 'Kordes'

What people are saying ...

I love this plant! It is one of my favorites in my garden. Very easy to grow and very hardy. I purchased it because it flowers and gets berries. Last year it had so many berries the branches arched to the ground.

I thought I lost it this year. Then I saw small leaf buds on some of the branches. I pruned out the ones that didn't show any life. Now it looks better than ever and very full. Jane G., Zone 5, Canada.

Hardiness:  USDA Zone 3

Watering: Medium moisture.

Wildlife: Birds

Type: Deciduous

Fertilizing: Fertilize in early spring by applying a slow release fertilizer specialized for trees & shrubs. Follow the label for recommended rate of application.

Uses: Holding banks, cuts, fillers, specimen, winter gardens, woodland gardens, screens or shrub borders.

Breeder:  Gunther Kordes of Germany

The vivid color of this new coral berry makes it superior to other varieties.  The deep purple-pink fruit is much brighter and showier in the landscape than that of other coral berry cultivars.

AMETHYST coralberry has good branching and a neat habit, unlike the rangy forms seen in many older types.

This is a great plant to include in the home garden.  It provides vivid color in mid-summer, and works nicely in informal woodland type gardens.  It has been reported to be somewhat deer resistant.
