A redbud for small landscapes. 'Don Egolf' Cercis comes from the National Arboretum boasting a unique shrub-like habit covered in vivid pink flowers in spring. No seed pods develop, preseving a neat, clean look all year. It's a great choice for small gardens, with handsome dark green foliage and good disease resistance. Named in honor of the late Don Egolf, plant breeder at the USNA.

General Care
Soil Generally not fussy about soils; any well-drained soil will do.
Pruning Little pruning is required, however, it can be pruned after flowering if desired.
Uses Cercis 'Don Egolf' makes a peerless specimen planting, and is particularly nice paired with spring flowering bulbs.
Growing Tips Has shown excellent survival in our USDA zone 6 trial gardens. However, some years, late frosts have ruined the floral display. Disease resistant, but assure good air circulation to minimize powdery mildew.
