Description

With a flower show that's brighter and denser than the species, LUSCIOUS LAVENDER™ redbud electrifies the landscape. Its open, rounded habit looks at home in native gardens, wildlife gardens, as a specimen, or even mass planted. Its thick leathery foliage remains dark and glossy throughout the summer, unbothered by pests or diseases.

As part of the Proven Winners ColorChoice Trees program, liners, whips, and finished plants are available only through the network of licensed growers.

Soil

Tolerates a wide range of soils, alkaline, acidic, and clay. Prefers moist, well-draining soil.

Pruning

If any maintenance is required, or shaping is desired it is best to prune in winter when dormant. It is also possible to prune after it has bloomed, but this should only be done when necessary.

Uses

With its relative small size and ability to grow in light shade, it makes a wonderful understory tree. It also serves the landscape well as a specimen or an impressive grouping.

Growing Tips

They require consistent moisture when planted in full sun, a 2-3" thick layer of mulch will help keep the soil cool and retain moisture.
