Description

Fragrant purple flowers appear abundantly in mid-May. The flowers are produced in panicles at the branch tips as well as at the lateral buds, resulting in a lush floral display. It has excellent disease resistance. Selected at the Arnold Arboretum from seed supplied by the Beijing Botanical Garden.

Soil

Prefers neutral to alkaline soils, but is fairly adaptable. Good drainage is imperative.
