Dale Deppe receives Horticulture Industries Leadership Award
On Sunday, July 14, the publishers of Nursery Management magazine presented Dale Deppe with one of six Horticulture Industries Leadership Awards (HILA) at a special dinner and presentation ceremony during the Cultivate 2019 conference in Columbus, OH.
For three years, there has been a partnership between horticulture magazines: Syngenta™, Greenhouse Management®, and Nursery Management®, who annually recognize the achievements of peers in the industry. The recipients are leaders who, “have positively impacted customers, businesses and the industry as a whole.”
The five other classmates of the 2019 HILA include: Art Van Wingerden, Metrolina Greenhouses; George Lucas, Lucas Greenhouses; Doug Cole, D.S. Cole Growers; Terri McEnaney, Bailey Nurseries; and Alan Jones, Manor View Farm.
Dale Deppe has dedicated 47 years to the horticulture industry. In 1981 Dale and Liz Deppe founded Spring Meadow Nursery and what started as a small, primarily contract-growing operation has grown to become one of the largest and best-known woody plant liner providers in North America. In 2004 Spring Meadow joined with the Proven Winners® brand of annuals to become Proven Winners® ColorChoice® shrubs. They are exclusively licensed to select, develop, distribute and market shrubs for the brand and do so with the philosophy that everyone should have access to, and be able to profit from, superior plants.
Dale expresses his gratitude for the award: “It’s great to be included in this group of distinguished leaders for 2019. I accept this honor on behalf of all those who have been instrumental in the success of Spring Meadow. We are just getting started.”
