Shrub Madness Crowns 2022 Champ!

Proven Winners® ColorChoice® crowns the 2022 Shrub Madness winner as the world’s only plant bracket competition came to a close. The contest was populated with a wide variety of Proven Winners® ColorChoice® shrubs, which compete throughout the month of March for the chance to be crowned the leader of the pack!

Coming from a crowded field of contenders, the competition narrowed to the Floral Four, then the final two after multiple rounds of voting. This year’s Floral Four included Let's Dance ¡Arriba!® bigleaf hydrangea, Fairytrail Bride® Cascade Hydrangea®, Reminiscent™ Pink rose, and Fire Light Tidbit® panicle hydrangea. 

The last round of voting found Fire Light Tidbit® Hydrangea paniculata with a firm lead over challenger Let's Dance ¡Arriba!® hydrangea and was ultimately crowned the 2022 Shrub Madness Champion.

Flowering in late summer, Fire Light Tidbit® hydrangea is the perfect option for continuing the hydrangea fun well into fall! Each large rounded bloom emerges frothy lime green, matures to white, blushes to pink, and finishes vibrant dragon fruit pink. Its foliage is at work in the autumn as well, providing the “fire” for this show by blending into hues of orange, maroon, and red! When it comes to front-of-the-border beauty, this dwarf hydrangea provides just the captivating display in true winning form.

Developed nine years ago, Shrub Madness is one example of how Proven Winners® puts its marketing dollars to work to bring attention to its line of ornamental shrubs, and this year particularly, to stress the importance of shopping at local garden centers.

This year players were once again given several opportunities to score samples of top-scoring plants including the grand prize “Floral Four and Plant Geek Swag Bag” which included a gift Card from Corona garden tools.
