Description

Finally, an improved version of garden classic 'Miss Kim' lilac! While ‘Miss Kim’ lilac’s blooms fade to white, Baby Kim® lilac has darker purple flowers that hold their color through spring. It's also about half the size of the original at just 2-3 feet tall and 2.5 feet wide, naturally growing as a tidy and appealing little mound. It tucks perfectly into borders and foundation plantings and can even be used as a low hedge. Baby Kim® Syringa boasts excellent fragrance, disease resistance, and landscape performance. This little lilac adds that classic garden appeal to the garden with more reliable coloring and a more compact habit.

Soil

Prefers neutral to alkaline soils, but is fairly adaptable. Good drainage is imperative.

Pruning

Blooms on old and new wood - prune after spring bloom if desired. Doing so will delay rebloom but also encourages it.

Uses

Hedges; mixed borders; foundation plantings; specimen.

Growing Tips

While not necessary, a light trim after spring bloom neatens the plant's appearance by removing any seed heads that have formed.
