Heirloom azalea. It's surprising that such an easy-to-grow azalea can be so difficult to find - that's why we added Rhododendron yedoense var. poukhanense 'Compacta' to our selection. Found in gardens since the 1800s, it offers exceptional cold-hardiness, very high shade tolerance, and a flurry of star-shaped lavender flowers in late spring.
