Description

A mini ninebark with a big impact. Pickleball™ is the smallest ninebark on the market at just around 3’ tall and wide. Its small mounding habit is a perfect addition to the front of the border or in mass plantings. This native Physocarpus opulifolius has bright green foliage and darling white flowers that native bees and other pollinators will love just as much as you will. The vibrant foliage also makes a great foliage filler in cut flower arrangements. Not only is Pickleball™ ninebark adorable, it's also incredibly tough, showing good disease resistance, excellent drought tolerance, and good adaptability to soils. Pruning

To best enjoy its naturally graceful habit, avoid habitual cutting back. If required, prune after flowering or thin out oldest stems in late winter/early spring. May benefit from periodic rejuvenation pruning.

Growing Tips

Though physocarpus can grow in part shade, flowering, foliage color, and disease resistance is best with a minimum of six hours of sun. Physocarpus is amenable to pruning and recovers from it quickly; however, frequent cutting back may cause the plant to develop an odd habit.
