- Description
Tightwad Red® is the first true dwarf crapemyrtle with true red blooms. Flowers are sterile and produce no distracting seed pods. Plants grow as a dense half-circle mound with little or no pruning. New leaves are wine-red, and quickly change to purplish green, then dark green. Drought and heat tolerant. Disease and deer resistant.

Moist, well drained soils are best, but crapemyrtle is widely adaptable, including to compacted urban soils.Pruning
Blooms on new wood. Pruning depends on the plant's role in the landscape, however, these large, tree-like crapemyrtles are best pruned only to develop an appealing form. Regular pruning or cutting back should generally be avoided.Uses
