Description

Tough and beautiful You expect a lot from the Happy Face® series of potentilla: hardiness, non-stop blooms, extra-large flowers, and essentially effortless care. Happy Face Hearts® has proven itself worthy of the line-up, and brings beautiful apple-blossom like flowers, pink with a white-yellow star in the center for an old-fashioned “picotee” effect with modern day performance. Maintains pink coloration even in hot weather. Formerly known as Potentilla fruticosa.

Soil

Tolerates most any soil, with the possible exception of prolonged wet conditions.

Pruning

Benefits from a good trim in late winter/early spring, during which up to one-third of the oldest branches may be removed as well. Periodic rejuvenation is recommended.

Uses

Mixed borders, foundation planting, edging, groundcover.

Growing Tips

Though potentilla can grow in partial shade, a minimum of six hours of sun is recommended for best flowering and form. Flowering may slow during periods of hot weather. Very deer resistant.
