Description

Attractive light pinkish-white spherical flower heads in mid-summer, 'Sputnik' cephalanthus has an attractive habit and glossy foliage. Steve Bieberich of Sunshine Nursery found this buttonbush in a native stand in Oklahoma.

Soil

In the wild, cephalanthus is frequently found growing on pond edges and riverbanks. It quite enjoys wet soils, though will grow in well-drained and average soils as well.

Mixed borders; naturalizing; hedging; foundation plantings.
