Description: A new, unique addition to the Kodiak® series of diervilla, Kodiak® Green diervilla brings fresh two-toned green foliage and a different texture and habit to the series. The new foliage is a lighter green, which contrasts wonderfully against the older, dark green leaves and makes a great foliage filler in cut flower arrangements. This native Diervilla × splendens is a strong, showy summer bloomer, and the abundant yellow flowers are adored by butterflies and native bees. The unique texture and habit make this diervilla ideally suited for mass plantings in larger landscape projects, and wildlife or pollinator gardens.

General Care

Soil

Adaptable to any soil, except excessively soggy sites.

Pruning

Blooms on new wood so spring pruning is best. Needs little regular pruning; however, benefits from rejuvenation every 3-5 years.

Uses

Ideal for mass plantings of all types: hedges, foundation, wildlife gardens. Very well suited to filler material in cut flower production.

Growing Tips

Diervilla is one of the most shade tolerant shrubs, however, blooming and foliage color are best with some sun. Vivid fall foliage, particularly in fall, makes it a nice alternative to burning bush.
