Description

Think of Chicklet Orange esperanza (Tecoma fulva) as a long-blooming trumpet vine in a non-invasive, compact shrub form. Its rich orange trumpet-shaped flowers bloom all summer, attracting hummingbirds and other pollinators. In cooler climates, this shrub is perfect in a container as a patio plant. In warmer climates, Chicklet® Orange can be enjoyed really anywhere you’d like to plant it. Either way, it will provide an abundance of blooms for you to delight in. Chicklet® Orange trumpet bush is deer-resistant and tolerant of drought and heat.

Soil

Any well-drained soil will do; tolerates moderate drought once established.

Pruning

Blooms on new wood - prune in early spring, after the plant has leafed out, if desired. However, this dwarf selection needs less pruning than conventional tecoma.

Uses

Ideal for containers in both hot and cold climates; can be incorporated into landscapes and flower gardens in zone 8 and warmer.

Growing Tips

Shrubby habit needs little pruning or training to develop into a lush, full plant with abundant blooms.
